Terms of Use for Story AI

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Brantley Media Group LLC ("Brantley Media Group," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Story AI iOS app (bundle identifier com.bmg.storyAI) and the storyaiapp.com website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
Story AI generates adult fiction, including explicit sexual content between consenting adult fictional characters. The App Store rates Story AI 17+, which is the highest rating Apple offers. Independently of that rating, the Service is available only to individuals who are at least 18 years old. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If we learn that you are under 18, we will terminate your account.
2. Your account
Story AI creates an anonymous account for you automatically on first use, so you can write without giving us an email address. You may optionally create a permanent account using Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or an email address and password, which lets you keep your books if you change devices. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@storyaiapp.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
3. Subscriptions, trials, and offers
Access to Story AI's features requires an auto-renewing subscription, billed weekly, monthly, or annually, at the prices displayed in the app at the time of purchase.
The annual plan may be offered with a 7-day free trial, and other plans may be offered with an introductory price for a first period. Introductory offers and free trials are granted by Apple once per Apple ID per subscription group. If you have already used an introductory offer or free trial in Story AI, you are not eligible for another one, and the app will show you the standard prices instead. If you do not cancel a free trial before it ends, your paid subscription begins automatically and you will be charged the plan's price.
We may from time to time offer a discounted price, including when you decline a purchase or when you are considering cancelling. Any such offer is described in the app at the time it is shown, applies only to the plan and period stated there, and renews at the standard price for that plan afterward unless the offer says otherwise.
All subscriptions are purchased through, billed by, and managed through the Apple App Store. Apple is the merchant of record for all purchases. Your subscription will automatically renew unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription, and view or manage a free trial, at any time in your Apple ID account settings.
Brantley Media Group does not process payments and does not issue refunds directly. All refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple's own refund policies. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact Apple through your purchase history in Settings or at reportaproblem.apple.com.
4. Acceptable use
Story AI is built to let adults write and read explicit adult fiction without unnecessary restriction, but the following is never permitted, whether in a book, a character, a prompt, a chapter brief, a cover description, a manuscript upload, a review, a report, a profile, or anywhere else in the Service:
Content that depicts, describes, or romanticizes a minor (anyone under 18, including a fictional character written or implied to be under 18) in a sexual or romantic context, in any way, under any framing.
Content depicting real, identifiable people, including public figures, in sexual or defamatory situations without their consent.
Content that provides instructions for creating weapons or dangerous substances, that otherwise facilitates serious real-world harm, or that promotes terrorism or violent extremism.
Content that is unlawful, that infringes another person's intellectual property or publicity rights, or that harasses, defames, or threatens a real person.
Attempting to bypass, disable, or manipulate the Service's content moderation or safety systems, including through prompt engineering intended to evade the prohibition on sexualized depictions of minors.
Using the Service to generate content for resale or redistribution in a way that misrepresents its origin, or scraping, reverse-engineering, or building a competing service from the Service.
Uploading malicious files, or manuscripts you do not have the rights to submit.
We use automated content moderation to enforce the prohibition on sexualized depictions of minors, among other checks. A blocked request is a hard stop: it will not be generated, regenerated, or published, regardless of rephrasing, and the blocked text is logged for safety review. Repeated or serious violations, including any attempt to generate or publish content sexualizing a minor, will result in immediate termination of your account without a refund of any unused subscription period.
5. User content and license
You retain ownership of the books, chapters, characters, and prompts you write or generate using the Service ("Your Content"). We do not claim copyright in Your Content.
To operate the Service, you grant Brantley Media Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely as needed to provide the Service to you, for example storing your books and rendering them in the reader. If you choose to publish a book to the community, you additionally grant Brantley Media Group and other users of the Service a license to view and interact with that published book, including reading, rating, reviewing, and bookmarking it, within the Service, for as long as it remains published. You can unpublish a book at any time, which ends the community-facing portion of this license going forward, though previously delivered interactions such as existing reviews may persist as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for having the rights to any manuscript you upload or any photo you use as cover art or a profile picture.
6. Community
If you choose to participate in the community, the following applies in addition to the acceptable use rules above.
Publishing. You may publish a book once it has at least 3 chapters, and you may publish up to 3 new books per day. Published books are visible to other subscribers. You may rate and review other users' published books, subject to the same content rules and limited to one review per book; bookmark books; report books or reviews that violate these Terms; and block authors whose work you do not want to see.
Anonymous publishing. You may publish a book anonymously, in which case other users see it credited to "Anonymous" with no author name, bio, avatar, or author page. Anonymity applies to other users only. We still record which account published the book so we can enforce these Terms, act on reports, and let you manage your own work. Publishing anonymously does not exempt a book from these Terms, from our Publishing Guidelines, or from automated moderation.
Moderation of published content. Every book is checked by automated moderation before it goes live, and reviews are checked before they post. Books that accumulate a threshold number of user reports are hidden from the community automatically pending review. Brantley Media Group may remove any published content, review, or profile information, and may suspend or terminate any account, that we determine in our reasonable judgment violates these Terms or our Publishing Guidelines, with or without notice.
Content published by us. Some books in the community are created by Brantley Media Group using the Service, rather than by other users, so that the community is not empty for early readers. These books follow the same content rules as everything else.
7. AI-generated content disclaimer
Story AI uses third-party AI providers to generate story text and cover artwork. AI-generated content is produced by statistical models. It may be repetitive, may inadvertently resemble content generated for other users or existing works, and is not guaranteed to be original, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose. We make no warranty that any AI-generated text or image is unique or free of similarity to other works. You are solely responsible for how you use, distribute, publish, or rely on any content generated through the Service, including any file you export, and for ensuring your use complies with applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
The Service itself, including its software, design, trademarks, and the Story AI name and logo, is owned by Brantley Media Group or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted to you in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from Manage account on the You tab. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, in particular the prohibition on sexualized depictions of minors, or if required to do so by law or by our service providers. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 5, 7, 8, 11, and 12, will survive.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated content will meet your expectations or be free of objectionable material despite our moderation efforts.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Brantley Media Group will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50.
12. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent superseded by applicable federal law.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
