QuickNovel
Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

Who we are

QuickNovel is made by Brantley Media Group LLC ("Brantley Media Group," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the QuickNovel iOS app (bundle identifier com.bmg.storyAI) and the storyaiapp.com website (together, the "Service"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@storyaiapp.com.

Scope

This policy covers the QuickNovel app and storyaiapp.com. It does not cover other apps published by Brantley Media Group, third-party websites you may reach through links in the Service, or the App Store itself, which has its own privacy practices.

Fiction generated or published using QuickNovel may include mature themes intended for adult readers, and the App Store rates the app accordingly. QuickNovel is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the minimum age required by the app's App Store rating. See "Children" below.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what we collect automatically as you use the app, and what our service providers collect on our behalf.

Account and profile information. When you first open QuickNovel, we create an anonymous account for you automatically so your books have somewhere to live. You do not need to give us an email address to use the app. If you choose to create a permanent account, you can do so with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or an email address and password, which gives us the identifier and, where you provide it, the email address or name associated with that method. If you publish a book to the community under your own name, you also set an author name, a short bio, and an optional avatar image, which are visible to other users.

Content you create. We store the books, chapters, and characters you write or generate; the prompts, plot notes, and chapter briefs you enter; any manuscript you upload; the cover artwork generated for or uploaded to your books; your favorites and bookmarks; and any reviews you write about other users' published books. We also store reports you file about books or reviews, and any message you send us through Contact us or Report a bug, together with the app version and device model attached to it.

Information related to AI generation. When you ask QuickNovel to write or continue a chapter, rewrite one, generate a title, suggest a plot, summarize your book for continuity, analyze an uploaded manuscript, or generate cover artwork, we send the relevant text to the AI providers described below so they can produce a response. For chapters, that text includes your plot notes, your character descriptions, and enough of the earlier book (usually a running summary, plus the end of the previous chapter) to keep the story consistent. For cover artwork, it includes your description of the cover along with your character and plot details. Every generation request also passes through automated content moderation, as described below.

Parental controls. If you turn on Parental Controls, which is off by default, you set a 4-digit PIN. Whether Parental Controls are on for your account, and the PIN itself, are stored with your account record so that our support team can reset your PIN for you if you forget it.

Purchase information. If you subscribe, Apple processes the transaction and our subscription platform, RevenueCat, receives purchase and entitlement data (such as which product you bought, renewal dates, trial status, and whether you are eligible for an introductory offer) so the app can unlock and manage access. We do not receive or store your payment card details; those stay with Apple.

Photos you choose. If you pick a photo from your library to use as a book cover or a profile picture, that image is uploaded to our storage and, in the case of a profile picture on a book published under your own name, shown to other users. We do not receive access to the rest of your photo library; iOS shares only the image you select.

Usage and device information. We and our analytics provider (Amplitude) automatically collect information about how you use the app, such as which screens you visit, which features you use, and general device and app-version information, so we can understand usage and improve the Service. Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework governs whether we and Apple's AdServices attribution can use tracking-related identifiers on your device; you control this through the prompt shown during onboarding and through your iOS Settings at any time afterward.

Notifications. QuickNovel can send you local notifications, such as a reminder to keep writing. These are scheduled on your device, so we do not need a push token and do not send them from our servers.

Narration. The Listen feature reads a chapter aloud using the speech synthesizer built into iOS. The chapter text is not sent to us or to any third party to produce the audio.

Legacy content. If you used an earlier version of this app, the books stored on your device and in your earlier account are migrated into your current account the first time you open this version, so you do not lose them. Content types that this version no longer offers remain stored but are not displayed.

We do not display third-party advertising in QuickNovel.

How we use information

We use the information above to operate and provide the Service, which includes creating, storing, and displaying your books and the community; generating and moderating AI content; processing manuscript uploads; producing exports, including KDP-ready paperback PDFs and Kindle ePUB files; processing and managing subscriptions, entitlements, trials, and promotional offers; maintaining community features such as publishing, ratings, reviews, bookmarks, reporting, and blocking; enforcing Parental Controls when you turn them on; understanding product usage and improving features through analytics; measuring the effectiveness of our own app-install advertising through Apple's AdServices attribution; securing the Service against abuse, including reviewing content that automated moderation blocks; and replying to you when you contact support.

The content you write in QuickNovel is personal to you. We do not sell it, we do not use it to target advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.

AI providers and content moderation

QuickNovel uses third-party AI providers to generate story content and cover artwork, and an automated moderation service to screen content before it reaches an AI provider, you, or the community.

Moderation. Before any AI provider sees your request — whether it is a chapter, a title, a plot suggestion, a continuity summary, a manuscript analysis, or a cover prompt — it is screened by an automated moderation service. If a request is blocked, most importantly anything involving sexual content and a minor, we log the blocked request together with your account identifier, as needed to meet our legal and reporting obligations. That log is not visible to other users and is used only for safety review, abuse investigation, legal compliance, and improving the moderation gate.

Text generation. Once a request passes moderation, the relevant text — your prompts, character notes, and the story content needed to continue a chapter — is sent to OpenAI, DeepSeek, or xAI (Grok) to generate chapters, titles, plot suggestions, continuity summaries, and manuscript analysis. Which of these providers handles a given request depends on our moderation and availability routing at the time; if you are located in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, that routing uses xAI rather than DeepSeek.

Image generation. When you create cover artwork in the app, your cover description together with your character and plot details is sent to ModelsLab to generate the image, after the same moderation screening. Cover images we generate for you are stored in our cloud storage and shown in your library, and to other users if you publish that book.

We do not permit our AI providers to use the content you send through QuickNovel to train their general-purpose models beyond what is required to provide the moderation and generation service itself, under our agreements with them current as of this policy's date.

Publishing anonymously

You can publish a book to the community anonymously. When you do, other users see the book credited to "Anonymous" with no author name, bio, avatar, or author page, and the book is not linked to anything else you have published.

Anonymous means anonymous to other users, not to us. Our systems still record which account published the book, so that we can enforce our Terms of Use, respond to reports, remove content when required, and let you unpublish or delete your own work. Publishing anonymously does not exempt a book from our content rules or from automated moderation.

Sharing

We share information with the following categories of recipients.

Service providers who process it on our behalf: Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Cloud Storage, for hosting your account and content), RevenueCat (subscription management; Apple is the merchant of record for all purchases), Amplitude (product analytics), OpenAI, DeepSeek, and xAI (story generation and content moderation), and ModelsLab (cover image generation).

Other users, but only what you choose to make visible: any book you publish to the community, along with its cover, ratings, reviews, and Mature tag if applicable, is visible to other subscribers within the app. If you publish under your own name, your author name, bio, and avatar are visible alongside it. If you publish anonymously, they are not.

Legal and safety purposes: we may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Brantley Media Group, our users, or the public. That includes responding to a valid legal request, and acting on content that violates our prohibition on sexual content involving minors.

Business transfers: if Brantley Media Group is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy you are notified of.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.

Retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your books are soft-deleted and removed from the community, your reviews are removed, your user record — including your Parental Controls setting and PIN, if you set one — is deleted, and your authentication record is deleted. Some information may be retained for a limited period afterward where needed for fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or safety review; records of moderation-blocked requests, including the associated account identifier, are retained separately from your deleted account for safety and legal purposes. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own retention practices.

Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including Google Firebase's access controls, encryption in transit, server-side rules that keep your unpublished books readable only by your account, and app attestation to limit access to our services to genuine copies of the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). These can include the right to access, correct, delete, or export your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and, where applicable, to withdraw consent.

You can delete your account and associated data at any time in the app, from Manage account on the You tab. You can export any book you have written as a KDP-ready paperback PDF, a Kindle ePUB, a PDF, or a plain text file from the reader's Options menu; exports are produced on your device. To exercise any other privacy right, or if you have trouble using in-app deletion, contact us at support@storyaiapp.com and we will respond consistent with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Children

QuickNovel is not directed at children. Fiction generated or published using the app may include mature themes intended for adult readers, and the App Store rating reflects this. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the minimum age required by the app's App Store rating. If we learn that we have collected information from someone below that age, we will delete it and terminate the associated account. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@storyaiapp.com.

International data transfers

Brantley Media Group and its service providers operate in the United States and other countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we rely on mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards offered by our service providers for these transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
